There has been a heron in the pond bordering our property pretty regularly the last week or more. It is beginning to tolerate my presence somewhat only flying in this case to find a better fishing spot.
There were lots of shorebirds around on Sunday including this Killdeer. I was surprised it let me approach this close since normally they are pretty wary.
I had a few photos printed in the last week. I made the hardwood frames and had them matted and this time was lucky enough to have them displayed at a local gallery. These will be at Focus Gallery at 25C King St. Shelburne until the end of August.
This lone Godwit has been around for a week or more at Mathew's Lake, time to add it to the blog. The flight shot was taken later on August 8 and is likely not the same bird. There have been four or five at a time since the first lone bird.
Common Terns doing a mid-air, mock battle at a small breeding colony in Mathew's Lake. I'm not sure of the significance of this but I believe it's mostly for show at this point in the breeding season.
This teal pair was sharing the pond at Hemeon's Head with a couple other teal, one with ducklings as well as a couple of hen Mallards and a drake Gadwall.
