Canada Goose

Not many birds moving on Sunday at Hemeon's Head.
The wind was brutal but a few Canada Geese flew over
as I tried to get out of the weather. Jan. 26

Another Short-eared Owl post

A lot of people seemed to like this one so I'll include it here. This is a reprocessed version. 

This was the best shot from this session from an image quality standard,
Given the condition of the road to Hemeon's Head this might be the last
shot I get for a while. Jan. 15.

This one is from Jan. 13, one of two birds hunting there both days. When I took
this shot the other was perched on a fence post farther away.

Lapland Longspur

I've found these guys hard to get close to generally and they tend to
hide in the tall grass. Got lucky with this one since he was alone on the beach.

Short-eared Owl

I had fun taking these shots. There were lots of opportunities given that he/she stayed
in the area for over an hour hunting for mice. It was one of those rare opportunities
being in the right place at the right time.

Downy Woodpecker



There have been at least four different woodpeckers in my yard in recent
days. Two Hairy Woodpeckers, male and female, the Red-bellied and lately
a male Downy woodpecker has joined them.
