Fox Sparrow

This Fox Sparrow arrived in my yard today, hopefully it sticks around long enough so I can get some better
pictures. March 28, East Jordan.

Another Pipit

One of three Pipits on the beach at the end of East Ragged Island. I managed to snap this as he/she was
calling to one of its companions. March 25.

Red-breasted Nuthatch

Although there have been Nuthatches around all winter they have been avoiding the feeders
for some reason. This one didn't seem to realize the feeder had two sides and couldn't find
a spot next to the White-throated Sparrow although the other side was empty.

Bald Eagle - Juvenile

These are the best Eagle photos I've taken to date. It may only be a juvenile but
in some ways I find them more interesting. March 25, Mathew's Lake.

White Throated Sparrow

Of all the shots I've taken in the last few days this one is my favourite.
Good lighting, great pose - even the feather out of place adds interest.
March 24, East Jordan.

Black Guillemot

It's not that often you find a Guillemot this close to shore so it was nice to have
the opportunity to take multiple shots. March 19, West Head.

Leucistic Black-capped Chickadee

This little guy/gal has been hanging around the feeders all winter with the other 40 or so
Black-capped Chickadees. What is most noticeable is the pink legs and feet as well
as the mostly white face. Birds with abnormal white patches are usually defined as being
leucistic which is a fairly rare condition in birds.

Late Winter Songbirds

One of three Snow Buntings and a Savannah (Ipswich) Sparrow seen last weekend-
March 9, Mathew's Lake, Hemeon Head area. The Ipswich Sparrow has probably
over-wintered rather than being an early migrant.

A Couple of Snowy Owl Pics

I've been trying to keep a respectable distance with these birds as with this one.
Most that I've seen have been pretty docile but this one seemed to be hunting for mice
from this perch. West Head, Feb. 23.

This one surprised me, I knew there had been one in the area but was startled when it took
off before spotting it. Feb. 27, Hemeon's Head.

American Bittern

This bird has been overwintering at Hemeon's Head. The first two shots are from March 1st,
the flight shot from Feb. 18. The weather should improve for it in the coming weeks, yesterday
it was trying to feed in an unfrozen area of one of the ponds there.
