Winter Favourites - Purple Sandpipers

 Unlike most species of shorebirds Purple Sandpipers only frequent our shores during the Winter months. They are pretty hardy birds feeding on rock ledges between the zone of high and low tide, often just avoiding the waves as they crash onshore. Since I generally know where I can find them they are a favourite subject for photography during the Winter months.
