Dark-eyed Junco

Lapland Longspur

Hard to get a clear shot of these guys, they tend to hang out in the tall grass. There were three birds, one of which was beginning to get the chestnut-coloured nape they exhibit in breeding plumage. This was not the one.  (click to enlarge)

Ruddy Turnstone

Ruddy Turnstone adjusting his feathers. This one was all by itself in an area that had several a couple weeks previously. The Purple Sandpipers were absent as well on this day. Rockland, Shelburne County, N.S.
