It's been awhile since I've posted anything. I guess it's time to start making up for that. It's not that I haven't taken any images, on the contrary, I've been so busy taking photos I've barely been able to keep up with the processing. Here is one from back in June. I have a feeling these birds might have been displaced by the recent wildfires. They should have been tending to young ones at the time but there was no indication they had nested at this location.
While we are doing the owl thing, here are a couple recent images of Great Horned Owls. I don't know if this the only fledgling from this nesting but my experience in this area where I found this bird is that the parents only raise one offspring per year.
I have been hearing lots of calling from Barred Owls late at night in recent weeks. Makes me think they probably nested in the area this year since it sounds like several birds. This photo is from this Spring on a day I didn't find anything to photograph. This bird was on the side of the road as I made my way back home.
I wasn't expecting to find Spotted Sandpiper chicks quite as early as I found this one. One of four at the time which is the usual clutch size. I was possibly expecting to find the adult on eggs since it's a location they have nested at during most recent years. They were probably a couple days old at this time.
One last warbler image from this Spring. Usually this would have been one of the first photos posted since Palm Warblers are generally the first warbler species to arrive here during the Spring migration. I should probably be better at posting images when they are more current but I don't see that becoming a reality. I still have several images from last Winter to upload.
