I have just started taking photos of Wood Ducks again in late Summer and will probably continue into Fall if the opportunity presents itself. So far most birds have not moulted back into full plumage so I still have these shots from last Spring to show for now.
I had to go back to the end of July for this one. The fog rolled in later in the day which ended a short afternoon of photography. I did manage a few photos before that happened including this one.
A couple of young plovers feeding as the sun was setting. These shots are from August 8.
A couple of wide angle environmental shots from the same location looking in opposite directions. There are a few shorebirds to be found in both, Semipalmated Plovers being the most obvious.
I spent a few evenings in early Summer trying to get flight shots of male Red-winged Blackbirds. These are some of the better attempts.
One from yesterday. There were lots of turnstones on the beach, several sanderlings and three juvenile Piping Plovers among a few other species. Very few birds in the marsh which I found surprising. This will be my first shorebird photo of this year although not the last. One of the many Ruddy Turnstones in the area in what is a typical setting for these birds.
I believe this is the same bird as the one silhouetted in the sun. Very close to the location of that shot and a bird that has been very visible most times I've been there as it likely was feeding young ones in the vicinity.
