Drake Wood Ducks

 I have to go back to early Autumn for these images, before the hunting season opened. These birds are gone now and I won't see them again until early Spring unless a few were brave enough to over Winter.

I have never really thought of Black Ducks as fish eaters but I guess they're opportunists like most wildlife.  You take what's available at any given time to survive.

 I have a feeling I may be taking more photos of this species in the next few weeks if things go as planned.  These ones are actually left over from last Winter's shoots so I thought I'd better post them soon.

Yellowlegs - Greater and Lesser

  I thought this might be my last shorebird themed post for this year but I might be wrong. I actually found a few more sandpipers to photograph today - November 12th.  It was unexpected and they were mixed in with a few songbird (passerine) species which had been my goal for the last week or so. More on that later. For now here are a few yellowlegs images, all shot on the same day, at the same location in early September.
