Palm Warbler - June 9

I didn't get out that much this Spring to photograph warblers. Partly for the obvious reason that prevented most people from getting out much. Partly because I was just too busy with other things. One bird I rarely miss photographing is the Palm Warbler since they are so ubiquitous. This bird was acting like it had young mouths to feed, which is not surprising given the date and the fact that Palm Warblers are one of the first to arrive in the Spring.

Spotted Sandpipers - June 8

There are two individual birds in these photos, a nesting pair. I'm not able to tell the difference between the sexes, but I believe the bird in the second photo had just left the nest where eggs were being incubated at the time. One might think that would indicate the female but in this species it's possible it could be either sex, or so I've read. The male may even do the majority of the incubating. The chicks hatched out about two weeks later, I just saw them again today at about 4 weeks old. They are fully fledged at this point but lack the spots of the adults. I will have more pictures to post of both the adults and young ones at a later date.

Northern Parula - Female

From back when the apple blossoms were in bloom in late May. The warblers seemed to arrive late this year including this female Parula.
